ffA (Foster Findlay Associates) recently released its SVI Pro 2010 3D seismic analysis and visualization application on both Windows and Linux platforms. This release provides greater flexibility to the end user, allowing them to work with the same tools on both their interpretation workstation and their mobile workstations.
The company states that SVI Pro produces objective and accurate 3D analysis of oil and gas reservoirs, which provides benefits to all stages of the E&P cycle, from seismic interpretation and 3D modeling to reserves estimation and well planning. The core application includes:

  • Noise-cancellation algorithms to improve seismic image quality through image enhancement, conditioning of seismic attributes, and stabilization of autotracking results for conventional interpretation
  • A comprehensive suite of structural, stratigraphic, and edge attributes for optimal results regardless of data quality
  • A multivolume mathematic calculator
  • Full-resolution processing of 8-, 16-, and 32-bit data
  • High-fidelity 2D/3D visualization

A number of optional modules are also available to tailor design the 3D seismic analysis, including a batch processor, interactive facies classification, and frequency decomposition.

The latest upgrade expands on these attributes, providing support for Windows XP and Vista (32 and 64 bit), and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 & 5 (64 bit). Users will also benefit from software enhancements including the addition of "one-click" geology-driven workflows, allowing preconfigured processing workflows to be built rapidly based on interpretation goals.

A number of additional workflows are available for noise reduction, channel and fault delineation, and improved well-log loading and visualization capabilities. This marks the first Linux release to provide rapid seismic attribute computation using GPU accelerated volume processing with Nvidia CUDA.

"Our first release of the new decade gives customers the extra flexibility that they need to carry out their 3D seismic analysis work in whichever PC-based environment they are using, whether it is their interpretation workstation, technical laptop or the visualization room," said Agnes Campan, ffA sales and marketing director.
